Emma Kade Waters Her Roots With New Single “Watering Can”

Emma Kade

Canadian country artist Emma Kade has released her newest single, “Watering Can” and it’s the kind of song that feels like a warm hug on a bad day. With heartfelt vocals, honest storytelling, and a message that digs deep into self-worth and perseverance, “Watering Can” is a gentle reminder to keep going, even when life feels heavy.

Produced by Garrett Ward and Dan Botch of The Renaissance (you might know their work with Zach McPhee and Annika Catharina), “Watering Can” blends Emma’s real-life reflections with a modern country-pop sound.

It’s grounded and soulful … but still carries a freshness that makes it stand out.

A Song Born from Chaos and Courage

Emma describes “Watering Can” as a kind of instruction manual for herself. Written during moments when she felt like she had nothing left to give. In her words:

“I wanted to encapsulate the courage it takes to persevere when you feel like you have nothing left.”

If you’ve ever found yourself stuck in a cycle of comparison, chaos, or just plain burnout, this one’s for you. Emma doesn’t shy away from the emotional clutter that comes with chasing your dreams … especially in the social media age. She lays it all out with grace and grit, and somehow still leaves you feeling uplifted.

Planting Her Flag in Country Music

While “Watering Can” is her first release of 2025, it builds on the momentum Emma created with her 2024 country breakout, “End Game.” That track landed her on Spotify editorial playlists like North Country, Fresh Finds Country, and Country Frontier, plus added support from CBC Radio and SiriusXM’s Top of the Country Radio.

Now, with “Watering Can,” Emma’s not just dipping a toe into country … she’s fully planted herself in it. And it suits her.

Get to Know Emma Kade

Hailing from Creston in British Columbia’s Kootenay region, Emma Kade is an award-winning Métis singer-songwriter with a knack for crafting songs that connect across genres.

Her roots are as diverse as her discography … from blues and pop to folk and country.

She first gained serious traction with “Let Me Go,” a collaboration with her brother DJ duo Steam Phunk, which has nearly hit a million streams on Spotify. Before that, she was recognized with a Kootenay Music Award for Best Pop Song in 2018, opened for Canadian legends like Gary Fjellgaard and Dean Brody, and experimented with sounds ranging from gospel to hip-hop.

It was in 2023, after being selected for Music BC’s ARC Artist Accelerator Program, that her shift to country started to take shape. And honestly? It feels like a perfect fit.

What’s Next for Emma?

“Watering Can” is just the first of three new singles Emma has in the works with The Renaissance production team, so there’s more on the horizon. If this release is any indication, Emma Kade is ready to bloom in a big way on the Canadian country scene.

In a time when it feels like everyone’s rushing to the next thing, “Watering Can” invites us to slow down, embrace who we are, and remember that growth takes time… and maybe a little patience, too.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
