Emerging Canadian country artist Manny Blu has released his debut single. For a debut single, “X On My Heart” is a slam dunk!
The song starts off with a pretty chill vibe to it, and builds to a more up-tempo country-rock vibe by the time the chorus comes around. From listening to this song, it’s clear that Manny pulls some strong inspiration from Old Dominion. His voice is reminiscent of Matthew Ramsey’s from Old Dominion – which makes this song seem familiar and memorable while listening to it.
“We’ve all experienced ups [and] downs in relationships whether they last or not, and ‘X on my Heart’ is about the more positive side of those feelings,” said Manny when speaking about his new single. “It’s a song about that pull you get when you catch a spark with someone. It always brings a flood of memories and emotions to me when I sing it.”
About Manny Blu
Manny Blu is one of Canada’s newest emerging country artists, and has such an interesting story. From Montreal, he started his career with aspirations of competing in MMA. He trained for years and made his amateur debut on Oct 12, 2013. He left the octagon victorious, but found himself injured in the process. During his recovery from that injury, Manny picked up a guitar and started learning how to play. It was during this recovery that he discovered his true career path.
We really dig Manny’s sound, and can’t wait for the release of his debut EP.

Lyrics to “X On My Heart” by Manny Blu
You got on them faded denims
high waiste Levi’s and Converse shoes.
You’re the California girl
that my mind dreams when the Beach Boys sing
We were shooting pool and drinking gin
your body’s begging me to pull you in
kiss your lips
hold you close
baby just like this.
Don’t care if your friends are watching us
can’t help it can’t get enough
of your smile your skin your touch
baby.
Your fingers playing with my shirt
feels so good it almost hurts
if it’s bad hope it gets worse
baby
cause your star,
your spark
you found me in the light
made a mark in the dark
lay your hands on my chest
baby
put an X on my heart
I know you’re gonna hurt me baby
maybe break me can I say please.
I know that that’s not what I should want
but that’s exactly what I need
Girl you’re something new I’ve never seen
I’ve never felt before.
Wanna pull you in
kiss your lips,
hold you close
just like this.
Don’t care if your friends are watching us
can’t help it can’t get enough
of your smile your skin your touch
baby.
Your fingers playing with my shirt
feels so good it almost hurts
if it’s bad hope it gets worse
baby
cause your star,
your spark
you found me in the light
made a mark in the dark
lay your hands on my chest
baby
Don’t care if your friends are watching us
can’t help it can’t get enough
of your smile your skin your touch
baby.
Your fingers playing with my shirt
feels so good it almost hurts
if it’s bad hope it gets worse
baby
cause your star,
your spark
you found me in the light
made a mark in the dark
lay your hands on my chest
baby
put an X on my heart
put an X on my heart
Put on X on my heart
Put on X on my heart
In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
