As the summer sun hits its peak, Canadian country group Blue Ridge Band has teamed up with Montreal singer-songwriter Trudy for a heartfelt new single, “Some Fires.”
This dreamy duet captures the bittersweet feeling of a love that almost was… a spark that glowed bright but never had the chance to turn into something more.
“Some Fires” will be featured on Blue Ridge Band’s upcoming sophomore album High On You, dropping September 26.
The track is already turning heads, offering a softer, more nostalgic side of the band … perfect for those long drives with the windows down and the volume all the way up.
A Song That Feels Like a Summer Breeze
“Some Fires” feels like a warm evening breeze, swirling with memories of a love that slipped through your fingers. The lyrics … “Some fires burn bright but aren’t meant to hold, A spark that we shared but we’ll never know” and “It wasn’t forever, but it’s still something” … hit that universal nerve of wondering what could have been if the timing had just been right.
With its easy-going vibe and emotional storytelling, this song is a must-add to any summer playlist. It lets listeners hold on to the warmth of “what if” without fully closing the door on the dream.
How the Collaboration Came Together
“This song is where two musical worlds meet… and from the start, it felt like they were meant to,” shared Blue Ridge Band. “We were craving something softer and more romantic, and it was clear that Trudy was the voice to bring it to life. Her folk roots blend so naturally with our country pop-rock edge.”
For Trudy, “Some Fires” marked her first-ever collaboration. “I first met Blue Ridge Band at LASSO festival last year and it was an instant connection! From the very beginning, it felt like a natural fit. Our styles blend so well together and I’m really proud of this summer song — it makes you want to hit the road, roll the windows down, and sing your heart out.”
Upcoming Album and Launch Shows
“Some Fires” is just one of the early glimpses into High On You, the new album arriving on September 26. Blue Ridge Band will celebrate with two launch shows: in Montreal (presented by LASSO) on September 24, and in Lévis on September 25. Tickets are on sale now at blueridgeband.ca.
Fans can also expect other singles like “The Rush,” “Somewhere in the Sand,” and the title track “High On You.” With these new releases, Blue Ridge Band is ready to keep the momentum rolling all through fall… and beyond.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
