After sweeping us off our feet with his cool, soft sound, Shawn Austin’s latest, “You Belong” has levelled him up. While the artist remains true to his sound, “You Belong” showcases the depth Austin possesses vocally, and it really shines in this rock-country song.

The song initially captures your attention with a powerful electric guitar intro. The beat is immediately contagious, and the desperate lyrics have listeners along for the entire ride. The song is a cry of apology after a fight which resulted in his love interest walking out on him. He rhymes of how perfectly the two fit together, that she doesn’t belong alone or with anyone else, and that he’d do anything for her to come back.
The Vancouver country artist, signed to Steelhead Music, first captured listeners with his single, “Paradise Found”, which was then followed by “Get Me There”. “You Belong” shows a slightly different side of him; one we’re excited he’s shared. What this song comes down to is Austin’s versatility and the emotion he can evoke from listeners. It really comes down to how he can deliver meaningful lyrics.
His co-manager, Dallas Smith (pretty well-known around the Front Porch….and North America) has praised him as having a “powerhouse” voice. We couldn’t agree more, and “You Belong” is just proof of that.
“You Belong” is a fairly new release, but we are sure it will make its way to the Top Ten in no time!
