Canadian country artist Annika Catharina is kicking off 2026 with a fiery new release “Dancing With The Devil”.
This single blends gritty country-rock energy with sharp storytelling, delivering a powerful look at the moment when someone finally sees a toxic relationship for what it truly is.
This track marks the third preview of Catharina’s upcoming debut album, Up All Night. With its punchy instrumentation and unapologetic lyrics, “Dancing with the Devil” continues to build momentum for one of Canada’s rising country voices.
A Country-Rock Anthem About Seeing the Red Flags
Written by Annika Catharina and songwriter Spencer Burns, “Dancing with the Devil” captures the emotional aftermath of a relationship that’s crossed the line from complicated to toxic. The song dives into that all-too-familiar realization that the warning signs were there all along.
Catharina explains that the idea behind the song came from reflecting on the ways people sometimes ignore those red flags.
“I often gravitate toward relationship songs, and this single explores what happens after one person clearly crosses the line of what’s healthy and acceptable,” she says. “When you look back on a toxic relationship, you’ll often find the red flags were there all along, but it’s easier to keep excusing them until it all becomes impossible to ignore. ‘Dancing with the Devil’ is about finally seeing someone clearly for who they really are and calling them out on it.”
Musically, the track leans into a bold country-rock sound. Produced by The Renaissance (Dan Botch and Garrett Ward), the song balances contemporary country production with rock-inspired edge, giving the message behind the lyrics extra bite.
Building Toward Up All Night
“Dancing with the Devil” follows a string of successful releases that have helped introduce Catharina to a rapidly growing audience.
Her previous single “Better Hands” surpassed 150,000 streams on Spotify and landed placements on editorial playlists across Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music. Earlier track “Under Covers” also earned her recognition as JR Country’s Artist of the Month.
All three songs will appear on her debut album Up All Night, which is expected to further showcase Catharina’s mix of emotional storytelling and energetic country sound.

A Breakout Canadian Country Artist to Watch
Based in the Fraser Valley region of British Columbia, Annika Catharina has steadily built a name for herself over the past few years. Since then, her career highlights have continued to stack up. Catharina has accumulated more than two million digital streams, earned over 40 editorial playlist placements—including coveted cover slots on Apple Music and Amazon Music—and received recognition from programs like Spotify RADAR Canada and Equal Canada.
She’s also made waves on satellite radio with back-to-back No. 1 singles on SiriusXM’s Top of the Country chart, while her live and emerging artist credentials continue to grow. In 2025, she was named a semi-finalist in the SiriusXM Top of the Country competition and a finalist in the Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase.
Heading into 2026, Catharina’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down. She is currently nominated for three BC Country Music Association Awards: Female Artist, Emerging Artist, and Songwriter.
A Confident Step Toward the Debut Album
With “Dancing with the Devil,” Annika Catharina delivers a confident and emotionally charged anthem that highlights both her songwriting voice and her evolving sound. It’s a track that doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable truths—and that honesty is exactly what makes it resonate.
As anticipation builds for Up All Night, the new single offers another glimpse into an artist who’s quickly carving out her place in the Canadian country scene.
And if this release is any indication, Annika Catharina’s breakout moment might just be getting started.
In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
