Canadian country artist Dan Davidson is getting ready to hit the stage for the 2019 Cavendish Beach Music Festival. We had the chance to connect with Dan to talk to him about getting ready for this great show.
Cavendish Beach Music Festival in PEI has a reputation to be one of the most fun festivals in Canada. PEI is such a great place to visit, and then when you mix it with country music, and killer lineup, you know it’s going to be a great time. Dan Davidson will be sharing the stage with other artists playing the festival including: Carrie Underwood, Eric Church, Hunter Hayes, and so many more. Interview with Canadian Country Artist Dan Davidson
Front Porch: Hi Dan, we so appreciate you taking the time to join us up on the Front Porch. If you don’t mind, it would be great if you could introduce yourself to our audience and tell us a bit about yourself.
Dan Davidson: Well, I’m Dan Davidson… 6’1. Scorpio. President of the Jonas Brothers Fan club, avid “floss” dance enthusiast, and self-proclaimed “pride of Alberta”… How’s that?
FP: It’s perfect! Now, you’ve been having a busy year so far! Your latest EP Juliet was released earlier this year. Tell us about the recording process – do you enjoy that creative process, or do you prefer to be out on the road performing for audiences?
DD: I love all aspects of this crazy career – I have to say that the best part of the job is definitely performing. That’s when you can actually see how people react and feel an energy that your music creates. Very gratifying. Plus, it’s a lot of fun to tour around the country with my best friends, drink beer, meet people, and make memories!
FP: Speaking of making memories, it must feel great to be headed to PEI to play one of Canada’s biggest music festivals. What’s going through your mind as you prepare for this big show?
DD: Honestly, I haven’t had too much time to process the fact that I get to play such an enormous and prestigious festival! I’ve been super busy writing for my next release – I’m actually in London, UK right now doing some writing (this time for other artists) and I also just spent a week in Denmark. I am super excited to be playing on the east coast, those are some of the best country music fans I’ve ever seen. They always know how to make their touring artists feel right at home!
FP: Speaking of writing, what inspires you, or gets you in the mood/mindset to write and create?
DD: I have to say it’s probably seeing other people excel. When I see an artist crush a live show – it makes me hungry to go and tinker with my show to make it better. I always want to be thought of as world class – so the influence of the quality of artists we have in Canada is the biggest driver for me to create, write and push myself.
FP: The country music genre has really evolved in the past few years and has become much more approachable to the average listener – blending the lines of pop and country, or country and rock. What do you think about that?
DD: It’s great! I came into the scene as country as you can get – but with the open minds of country fans, I’m able to try and experiment with some new ingredients and really not worry about if the songs check the “country to do” list. I think there is room for everybody in this scene. Also, if people react to something… who cares how it’s delivered. Music is all about making people feel something.
FP: We couldn’t agree more! And really quickly, give us your top 5 songs or artists that you are really into right now?
