“Redneck” Is Bran Redneck’s Ode to Friends, Freedom, and Not Having a Dollar to Your Name

Bran Redneck "Redneck"

Some artists write songs to become someone else. Bran Redneck wrote “Redneck” to tell you exactly who he already is.

There’s no persona here, no character study, no reach for a bigger story than the one he’s actually living. Just a guy from Montreal putting his whole outlook on life into three minutes of song, and meaning every word of it.

The Story Behind the Song

Bran’s approach to “Redneck” started with a simple question: who am I, really? The answer is a life without bells and whistles, built on friends, road trips, and music, with barely a dollar to show for any of it.

“‘Redneck,’ in a nutshell, is my outlook on life, who I am, what I do, to the core,” Bran said. “Simple life, nothing fancy, no bells & whistles, just straight up country living. Those moments, combined with friends, are some of the purest, happiest memories I have, just playing music, road trips, having a blast with literally not a single dollar to our name. If I could go back, I wouldn’t change a thing.”

That last line is the whole song, really. Not a shred of regret, not even a little bit of looking back and wishing things had gone different. Just gratitude for a life spent broke and happy with the people who mattered.

What It Sounds Like

Bran built “Redneck” on a foundation of traditional country and blues, pulling from artists like Billy Strings and Zach Top who’ve made a career out of sounding real. You can hear that influence in the organic instrumentation and the way the storytelling never gets in its own way.

“‘Redneck’ is a modern country track rooted in traditional country and blues influences,” Bran explained. “Inspired by the authenticity of artists like Billy Strings and Zach Top, it celebrates the simple life, time spent with friends and family, making memories, and enjoying the moments that matter most. With organic instrumentation, relatable storytelling, and a fresh yet timeless country sound, it’s a strong fit for both contemporary and roots-country audiences.”

That balance is what makes this one stick. It’s got enough grit to satisfy the roots-country crowd and enough polish to hold its own on a contemporary playlist, without sacrificing either side to get there.

Who’s Behind It

Bran Redneck has been building momentum fast. His debut single, “Homesick Heart,” racked up thousands of streams and landed airplay on country stations across Canada, Australia, the UK, and the US, all while he was still finding his footing as a country artist after a decade touring in hard rock and metal.

Home, family, hard work, and the pull of small-town living run through everything Bran writes. It’s not a marketing angle. It’s just what he knows.

What’s Next

Bran’s got shows lined up across Quebec and Ontario, with an EP on the horizon later this year. If “Redneck” is any indication of where that EP is headed, this is an artist worth keeping an eye on.

Redneck is just a word to some people. For Bran, it’s a way of life, and he’s not apologizing for it.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
