Canadian country artist Annika Catharina just dropped the music video for her latest single, “Love and Hate”.
The release caps off a banner year for the Abbotsford-based singer-songwriter, whose knack for storytelling and vivid emotional insight has struck a chord with fans across Canada.
“Love And Hate” Has Resonated For Many
With over 150,000 streams on Spotify already, “Love and Hate” has quickly resonated with listeners, and Annika has marked her spot as the cover artist of Amazon Music’s Poppin’ Country playlist. She’s also landed coveted spots on Apple Music’s Today’s Country, Canada’s Country, and New in Country, along with Spotify playlists like North Country and Country Frontier.
A Fiery Exploration of Love’s Complexity
Written by Annika alongside Parker Graye and production duo The Renaissance, “Love and Hate” is an unfiltered look into the highs and lows of a tumultuous relationship.
Directed by Max Chadwick, the music video brings to life the intense emotions captured in the song, which opens with a driving guitar riff and a gripping beat that underscores Annika’s passionate, conflicted lyrics.
Reflecting on her inspiration, Annika shared, “Timing is everything. Sometimes two people seem perfect on paper, but together at the wrong time, they end up in a cycle of love and anguish. After living it myself, it felt right to revisit that experience and craft a song to capture those emotions.”

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
