David Boyd Janes has quickly become one of Canada’s most promising new country acts … and his latest single “Couldn’t Hurt” will certainly help solidify that title.
It’s been a wild couple of years for Janes.
A couple of years ago, David made a difficult decision to quit his job and focus on pursuing music full time. Turns out this was the best decision he could have made.
In those short two years, he won The Next Country Music Star contest put on by the Havelock Country Jamboree, and was named Artist of the Year at the Mississauga Music Awards. The then went on to win the coveted Boots & Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase in 2019. This win gave him the opportunity to perform in front of 25,000 country fans, and a single release contract through Warner Music Canada.
Finally in 2020, David earned his first CMAOntario Award nomination in the Rising Star category.
Needless to say … it’s been a good couple of years for this talented artist.
His single “Couldn’t Hurt” is a great reminder that all this success is warranted. He co-wrote “Couldn’t Hurt” with country artist James Barker, Aaron Alan and industry veteran Joe Ernewein.
It’s a fun song that boasts a guitar-heavy sound that compliments David’s great vocals.
“Couldn’t Hurt” is a great single that you’re going to want to put on all your playlists. Be sure to stream the song on Apple Music and Spotify.

“Couldn’t Hurt” Lyric Video
In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
