Brett Kissel’s New Single “Make A Life, Not A Living”

Brett Kissel "Make A Life Not A Living"

Brett wants us to live a simpler life. And his latest single “Make A Life, Not A Living” is the inspiration we need to be reminded about enjoying life.

“Make A Life, Not A Living” is a down home song that reminds us that we all need to slow down. It’s a great message to live for life as opposed to living for work. It’s important to remember the simple things in life.  Brett sings about making the most of what we have now and live for each day in the present.

He wants us to be inspired by the message in this new single … It’s easy to let life get away from us. Make A Life, Not A Living” reminds us to slow down and remember that the simple things in life such as porch swings, creeks to swim in, a roof over our heads and just a simple life is a happy life.

During this time of uncertainty with little to no live music, he’s had some time to think about what his next album would be about. He pondered three words he had stuck in his head … What is Life??

And that’s the name of his upcoming album … What Is Life. This new album will be a new light, new direction and new views on love, life and gratitude.  He was on a hunt for something more and this weighed heavily on his mind.

Money, toys, mansions aren’t everything and we, as humans, need to  “Make A Life, Not A Living” or simply work to live not live to work and not let life get away from us and enjoy it to the absolute fullest we can.

Lyrics To “Make A Life Not A Living” By Brett Kissel

This ’94 Ford gets me A to B
This old tin roof ain’t never had a leak
Who needs a swimming pool when you got a creek
Yeah, this guy’s got everything he’ll ever need

I don’t need six figures, my bank account bigger
Pile of cash don’t make me richer (Naw)

Give me a wrap around porch swing swinging
Five-acre pond with a night crawler sinking
Girl in my hand and the other one drinking that Bud Light
Yeah, that’s my kinda money
I’m good with what the good Lord’s giving
Dirt under my boots and the air I’m breathing
Lose every penny, I’d still be winning
I’m trying to make a life, not a living

Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh
Trying to make a life, not a living
Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh

No, you can’t take nothing with you when you go
Yeah, the time that you got’s about as good as gold
Got a girl that I love that I get to hold
Thank God for what I got not what I don’t

I don’t need six figures, my bank account bigger
Pile of cash don’t make me richer, no

Give me a wrap around porch swing swinging
Five-acre pond with a night crawler sinking
Girl in my hand and the other one drinking that Bud Light
Yeah, that’s my kinda money
I’m good with what the good Lord’s giving
Dirt under my boots and the air I’m breathing
Lose every penny, I’d still be winning
I’m trying to make a life, not a living

Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh
Trying to make a life, not a living
Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh

Give me a wrap around porch swing swinging
Five-acre pond with a night crawler sinking
Girl in my hand and the other one drinking that Bud Light
Yeah, that’s my kinda money
I’m good with what the good Lord’s giving
Dirt under my boots and the air I’m breathing
Lose every penny, I’d still be winning
I’m trying to make a life not a living

Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh
Trying to make a life, not a living
Whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh
Trying to make a life, not a living

Hey it's Tim, I was born and raised on good ol' Country music on Vancouver Island, BC.  I grew up on classic Alan Jackson and Brooks & Dunn, when I'm not writing song reviews, I love going to concerts and photographing them and enjoying some good music. You can always find me with my camera in hand.
